Gov. John Kasich has appointed Andre Porter of Gahanna to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO).

Gov. John Kasich has appointed Andre Porter of Gahanna to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO).

Porter is an attorney in the public law practice group at Schottenstein Zox and Dunn Co. He will begin his five-year term as a commissioner in April.

Porter's legal practice has focused on energy and utility regulation, real estate tax, municipal law, telecommunications and broadband.

In addition to his legal work, he serves on the board of Capital University. Porter also previously served as past president of Gahanna Community Improvement Corporation and as the chair of the Gahanna board of zoning appeals. He also leads a mentoring program with his wife at her elementary school in Pickerington.

Porter received his law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and his undergraduate degree from Capital University.
