JPMorgan Chase will hold a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony from 11 a.m. to noon today (Tuesday, Sept. 27) at 800 Tech Center Drive in Gahanna.

Attendees will include Jim Malz, president of Chase in Ohio; Kevin Watters, retail lending executive, Chase; Gahanna Mayor Becky Stinchcomb; and U.S. Rep. Pat Tiberi (R-Genoa Township).

Chase currently employs 670 at the two Tech Center buildings at 800 and 825 Tech Center Drive and plans to hire up to 450 additional employees by early 2012.

Kevin Watters, Chase retail lending executive for mortgage lending, is scheduled to discuss the hiring still expected in Gahanna during the ceremony.

Chase has invested more than $15 million to renovate and furnish the 123,000-square-foot office space at the former NetJets location in Gahanna.

Shawn J. Bunt, Chase vice president, told ThisWeek in April that Gahanna's location was key in leasing 122,000 square feet at Tech Center Drive for a two-year term, with options to lease up to five years.

"We looked for space throughout central Ohio," he said. "We know it's a great place to do business. We know the workforce. We needed enough parking spaces for 500 to 1,000 folks."
