The Gahanna-Jefferson Public School District is adding to security measures at Lincoln High School this week after a 16-year-old student allegedly posted a disturbing video on YouTube and made inappropriate tweets over the Labor Day weekend.

Spencer Pearson, 16, a Gahanna Lincoln junior, was arrested Sept. 3 and charged with inducing panic involving a school. He’s being held at the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center.

The Columbus Bomb Squad made a sweep of the entire high school prior to the start of school Tuesday, Sept. 4, and will continue to do random sweeps throughout the week for precautionary reasons, Superintendent Francis Scruci said. Additional police personnel also were scheduled to be on hand throughout the day Tuesday, Sept. 4, to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The additional security measures are in response to a video uploaded via YouTube and Twitter at about 3 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, that was directed at Gahanna Lincoln High School students.

The content of the video was disturbing in nature and created fear and anxiety to both students and parents of Gahanna schools, according to school officials.
