Gahanna Police seek public’s assistance in grocery store robbery
The Gahanna Police Department is seeking the public’s help to identify a suspect who assaulted and robbed an 80-year-old woman at a grocery store on Saturday, Oct. 27.
The woman was shopping at Kroger, 300 South Hamilton Road, at about 4:30 p.m., when a man crept up behind her and violently shoved her from behind as she pushed her cart, according to police.
The suspect immediately removed a wallet from the purse that contained credit cards and other personal documents.
The suspect then drove to a Walgreens store at E. Broad St. and I-270 in Columbus, where he is seen on surveillance video purchasing Macy’s gift cards with one of the victim’s credit cards, police said.
Surveillance video also shows the suspect arriving at Walgreens in an older model green Toyota Camry.
Police said the man made another attempt to purchase gift cards at a Walgreens store in Reynoldsburg, but the card had been cancelled and the transaction was denied.
Anyone with information about the suspect or the robbery can contact the Gahanna Police Department at 614-342-4240.
