Tips sought in early morning Gahanna home invasion
Gahanna-area residents are encouraged to call Gahanna police with any information regarding a home invasion at about 4:19 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9.
Four people entered the residence at 1451 Harrison Pond by using a rock to smash out a rear glass door, according to police.
One intruder entered the woman’s bedroom and pulled her out of bed by her hair. The man heard the commotion and exited into the hallway from another bedroom, where three intruders confronted him.
He was struck in the head and body numerous times, possibly by a gun and flashlight, police said.
As the intruders were striking the man, they kept asking for the location of a safe.
Stolen from the home were a wallet, cellphones, a television and guns.
The intruders, three males and one female, fled in a red Pontiac Vibe that had been parked in the home’s driveway. It later was found abandoned at an apartment complex within close vicinity of the incident.
The vehicle contained items stolen from the home and was impounded.
Police believe the intruders might have fled the area in a red Altima shortly after abandoning the Pontiac Vibe.
The intruders reportedly were wearing ski masks, and one of them was described as being about 6 feet, 2 inches with a “thick build,” police said.
Anyone with information should call the Gahanna police at 614-342-4240.
