Gahanna police investigating car break-ins

A string of car break-ins was reported to Gahanna police between 1 and 9 p.m. Jan. 17, when someone shattered vehicle windows and took items ranging from purses to book bags.

Items were stolen from cars in the parking lots of Los Jalapeno's Mexican Restaurant, 1356 N. Hamilton Road, and Gatsby's, 151 North Hamilton Road, at 12:41 and 12:56 p.m., respectively.

Two book bags were reported stolen from a vehicle parked at Rick's Coaches, 230 Granville St., at about 8:30 p.m., and a back pack was reported stolen from a vehicle at Gahanna Lanes, 215 W. Johnstown Road.

A resident complained about barking dogs in the 750 block of Jonsol Court at 10:48 a.m. Jan. 14. The owner of the dogs said he and a neighbor don't get along and that the neighbor would blow a whistle to stir them and then call police. The resident was advised to possibly keep the dogs in the garage while away from home.

An air-conditioning unit, a hot water tank and a fireplace were reported stolen at 10:55 a.m. Jan. 14 from a residence in the 700 block of Kenilworth Court.

A briefcase was reported stolen at 7:02 p.m. Jan. 14 after someone smashed the back window of a vehicle in the 470 block of Morrison Road.

Two cellphones were reported stolen from gym bags at 7:04 p.m. Jan. 14 in the 550 block of YMCA Place.

Police received a report at 6:22 a.m. Jan. 18 concerning an employee who allegedly stole a company generator from a business in the 1400 block of Blatt Blvd.

Police received a report at 3:03 p.m. Jan. 18 regarding the theft of a sticker from the license plate of a vehicle in the 690 block of Penny Lane.

Police received a report at 1:25 a.m. Jan. 19 about an unidentified person partially covering a vehicle with foil in the 30 block of Highmeadow Drive.

Police received a report at 1:29 a.m. Jan. 20 about the basement window of a residence being kicked in the 1000 block of Gwyndale Court.

Police received a report between noon and 12:05 p.m. Jan. 20 that a motorist was southbound on Hamilton Road, between East Johnstown and Clark State roads, when a vehicle sped up and slammed on the brakes. The caller said the motorist "flipped her off" and the male in the vehicle "mooned" her. The caller told police she was upset because her grandson was a passenger in her car.

The window of a vehicle was reported broken at 5 p.m. Jan. 20 at a business in the 550 block of YMCA Place.

Two bicycles were reported stolen from the patio of a residence in the 410 block of Hemston Drive at 9:02 p.m. Jan. 20.
