Gahanna music students compete in OMEA contest

Music students from Lincoln High School and middle schools East, South and West participated in the Ohio Music Education Association's (OMEA) Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Event on April 13 at Westland High School.

Students participate by performing solos or as part of a small ensemble, receiving comments and a rating from an OMEA adjudicator. Each is given a rating by the judge: I (Superior), II (Excellent), III (Good), IV (Fair), or V (Poor). Adjudicators also complete a thorough comment sheet for each entry.

Gahanna music students combined to enter 60 events -- 31 solos and 29 ensembles. Soloists earned 28 I ratings and 3 II ratings. Ensembles received 21 I ratings and 8 II ratings.

Soloists who earned a I rating were: Bobby Acklin, Hannah Bentley, Casey Bowles, Joshua Bullock, Alex Cebriak, Brian Collins, Sarah Coon, Matthew Copeland, Kaylea Dillon, Brooke Dixon, Emilee Felton, Anna Gyde, Jim Henry, Colin Jordan, Logan Killebrew, Emma Koors, Anna Merickel, Nathan O'Donnell, Jack Ponder, Josh Russell, Colin Saccocio, Piper Seaton, Jessie Sharp, Landon Smith, Sami Smith, Duncan Squillante, Krista Staten and Claire Steigerwald.
