Tenor Jon Jurgens, tenor of Gahanna, has been accepted into the competitive apprentice program at Chautauqua Opera for the 2013 summer season in Chautauqua, New York.
He will perform Bob Boles in Peter Grimes and a leading role of Fenton in Falstaff.
The Chautauqua Opera Young Artist program was formally established in 1966, followed by the creation of a Studio Artist program in 1981. In 2012, almost 700 applicants from 45 states and five foreign countries applied for the 26 positions in the training program.
The Chautauqua Opera Company is the oldest continuously producing summer opera company in the United States, as well as the fourth oldest American opera company.
