Dreska promoted

John M. Dreska of Gahanna was recently promoted to Colonel in the Army Reserves.

Dreska takes over as Officer in Charge of Detachment 6, U.S. Army Tank Automotive and Armaments Life Cycle Management Command.

The ceremony was held in Huntsville, Ala. Two former commanders from Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC) pinned Col. Dreska's eagles on his shoulders: Chief of Staff of Army Materiel Command Major General Darrell K. Williams and Dreska's father, Major General (Ret.) John P. Dreska.

Dreska's wife, Carol, presented him with a beret that had an eagle pinned to it that was previously worn by his father.

Dreska's overseas assignments have included tours in Somalia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq, and he is actively in community service, particularly in the area of veterans' issues and the MilVets Columbus Veterans Day Parade.

He is a 1988 graduate of St Charles Prepatory School and a 1992 graduate of Ohio State University.
