Sixteenth Annual Taste of Gahanna Halloween Party, sponsored by the Gahanna Area Chamber of Commerce, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Aladdin Shrine Center, 3850 Stelzer Road. Samples from some of the best restaurants in the Gahanna area, along with prizes, culinary competitions, costume contests and musical entertainment provided by the Columbus Community Orchestra. Highlighting the event is the "Chefs' Challenge," modeled after the television show Iron Chef. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 week of event and at the door, $10 for children ages 4 to 10, and free for age 3 and under. Reserved tables are available and recommended. Christ Child Society of Columbus, annual Red Wagon Fare luncheon, 10:30 a.m. Oct. 16 at the Villa Milano Banquet and Conference Center, 1630 Schrock Road. The event features a luncheon, a boutique of vendors from Central Ohio, Christ Child Society sweets, baked goods and crafts, as well as a style show provided by Chico's from the Shops at Worthington Place and Belles and Beaux Children's Boutique. Proceeds support the projects of the Christ Child Society. This year, Project Starfish, a tuition assistance program for the Christ Child-Child Care Center at St. Stephens Community House will be the focus.
AARP Foundation Senior Community Service Employment Program assists unemployed Franklin, Delaware and Licking county workers age 55 and over with securing employment. Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program of the Ohio Department of Insurance, Medicare 101, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at Wexner Heritage Village, 1151 College Ave. Those already enrolled or who will be new to Medicare in 2014 are invited to learn about their options and what is new to Medicare, including what is and is not covered, the costs, the ins and outs of Medicare prescription benefits and how to avoid becoming a victim of unscrupulous sales practices. Wills and Estate Planning Seminar, 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11 in the meeting room of the Gahanna branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, 310 Granville St. Attorney Raymond Eichenberger will discuss topics such as getting organized for estate planning, changes in estate tax laws, methods to avoid probate, living trusts, powers of attorney and medical directives.
Columbus Speech & Hearing Center, Huntington Hearing Health Program in partnership with Huntington Bank, offering free hearing screenings from 1 to 4 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of every month, Columbus Speech & Hearing Center, 510 E.
