Incumbent Anderson withdraws from City Council race

The Franklin County Board of Elections announced Sept. 3 it has accepted the withdrawal of Gahanna City Council member Beryl Anderson from the Nov. 5 election.

Anderson, 54, was seeking her fourth term as Ward 4 council representative.

She was being challenged by Joseph Gergley and James David Leeseberg.

Anderson is a consultant and motivational speaker. Upon announcing her candidacy, Anderson said she was running for re-election "to share my legal, business and leadership experience to make a difference in the community I love."

She also said she wanted to provide institutional continuity to a relatively new city council, particularly as the city faces challenging economic times.

Anderson couldn't be reached for comment before ThisWeek's press time, and the elections board didn't provide a reason for Anderson's withdrawal.

She will be replaced on the ballot.
