Gahanna: Reports run gamut: public urination, voyeurism, 'hate crime'

Gahanna police recently received complaints from residents about incidents ranging from public urination to a voyeur.

Residents in the first block of Penny Lane complained at 12:09 a.m. Sept. 1 about a white male urinating in the parking lot two times. The residents asked him if he could use the restroom inside, and he became angry and started yelling and trying to start a fight, according to reports. The residents said the man was very intoxicated.

A woman said a neighbor has been watching her daughter with binoculars, according to a complaint from a Johnstown Road resident at 3:56 p.m. Aug. 23.

A Walcreek Drive resident reported that someone cut down his Japanese maple tree between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Aug. 25. The resident said it was a hate crime because his wife and daughters are Asian.

In other Gahanna Division of Police incident reports:

* A mother visited police headquarters at 2:14 p.m. Aug. 25 to complain that a woman had pierced her daughter's nose without her permission. Her daughter turned 18 in August, according to reports.

* A Rocky Fork Drive South resident reported telecommunications harassment at 2:18 p.m. Aug. 31. He said a person he knows is calling and using vulgar words and that he would need a hearse.

* Two license plates were reported stolen from two semis at 7:52 a.m. Aug. 28 in the 870 block of Taylor Station Road.

* Tags were reported stolen from a motorcycle at 6:31 p.m. Aug. 23 in the 500 block of Forestwood Drive.

* Two motorists were playing "chicken," passing each other and speeding excessively, according to a complaint filed at 5:32 p.m. Aug. 24 in the 230 block of Flint Ridge Drive and 330 block of Rocky Fork Drive North.

* A Town Street resident was advised to call a pest-control company at 6:16 Aug. 29, when she said a skunk had been trapped at the Jefferson Woods apartments. The resident said the skunk isn't hers, but it's stinking in the neighborhood.

* A duck was blocking traffic, backing up motorists in the southbound lanes of North Hamilton Road, according to a complaint received at 7:34 p.m. Aug. 24. Police found a goose in the middle of the road, and it didn't want to be bothered.

* A gunshot was heard at the Town Place Suites, 695 Taylor Road, at 2:48 a.m. Aug. 26, according to reports. Police were told a fairly large tree snapped at the base, and that was the cause of the noises.

* A woman is letting her child walk around naked near the waterfall at Creekside Park, according to a complaint filed at 6:38 p.m. Aug. 26. The girl is 2 years old, according to reports.

* A resident asked police to drive by during school bus stop times at Gahanna Highlands and Irvington Place at 9:27 a.m. Aug. 27. The caller said a man had been seen masturbating on his front porch last month, and he constantly hangs out at the bus stop with other kids.

* Wood was reported stolen from a residence in the 450 block of Daventry Lane, according to a report received at 10:15 a.m. Aug. 27.

* A woman is going through trash cans on Sierra Drive, and she's being followed by a white SUV, according to a complaint received at 12:56 a.m. Aug. 27.

* A suspicious vehicle was reported at 10:42 p.m. Aug. 27 at Goshen Lane Elementary School, 370 Goshen Lane. Police found occupants reading their Bible, according to reports.
