Speech and debate places fourth at contest

The Gahanna Lincoln High School speech and debate team competed at Maumee High School Nov. 16, placing fourth overall.

Placing first was senior Matthew Zianni in student congress.

Fourth placers were senior Megan Ellsesser in student congress, senior Sedona Rosenberg in US extemporaneous speaking and junior Summit Rosenberg in humorous interpretation.

Fifth placers were seniors Skye Booth and Kyle Clark in public forum debate.

Rounding out the top six were senior Sarah Beavers in prose/poetry, juniors Nick Pagliaro in Lincoln Douglas debate and Loie Greenwood on original oratory.

Overall Gahanna placed fourth with 82.8 points. The top three teams were Mason (107.2), Centerville (94.6), and Sylvania Southview (87.8).

On Dec. 7, Gahanna will compete at North Canton Hoover. Gahanna will host the 14th annual Rotary Club of Gahanna Tournament Dec. 14.

The team is coached by speech and debate teacher Lyle Linerode, English teacher Kristen Juth, former competitor Evan Ecos and volunteer Bruce Mann.
