The Gahanna Lincoln High School speech and debate team placed second at the Wauseon Rotary Speech and Debate Invitational Dec. 21, and in the top six at the Middletown Forensifest Jan. 4.
At the Wauseon Invitational, seniors Sedona Rosenberg and Sarah Beavers placed first in US extemporaneous speaking and oratorical interpretation, respectively. Juniors Sibi Sengottuvel and Loie Greenwood also were first in Lincoln Douglas debate and original oratory, respectively.
Placing second were seniors Olivia Smith and Matthew Zianni in prose/poetry and congressional debate.
Third placers were seniors Jennie McAndrew in original oratory and Megan Ellsesser in congressional debate.
Fourth were Jassy Da Silva and Skye Booth in public forum debate.
At the Middletown event, Zianni placed first in student congress while Greenwood placed first in oratory.
Fourth placers were Ellsesser and junior Summit Rosenberg in student congress and humorous interpretation, respectively.
Rounding out the top six were senior Sedona Rosenberg and sophomore Liza Day in US extemporaneous and impromptu, respectively.
The team is coached by speech and debate teacher Lyle Linerode, English teacher Kristen Juth, former competitor Evan Ecos and volunteer Bruce Mann.
