Interviews under way for high school principal candidates

By

Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools leaders are in the process of interviewing seven candidates for the position of Lincoln High School principal.

The candidates are Robert Dodd, principal at New Lexington High School; Dr. Milton V. Folson, principal at Northridge Middle School in Springfield; Dr. Laura Hebert, principal at Lloyd C. Bird High School in Chesterfield, Va.; Kiya Hunt, Pickerington High School North principal; Tryvan Leech Sr., freshmen principal at Princeton City Schools in Cincinnati; Denise Lutz, principal at Hannah Ashton Middle School in the Reynoldsburg school district; and Aric Thomas, principal at Groveport Madison High School.

"I think we have some strong candidates in that pool," said Francis Scruci, Gahanna-Jefferson superintendent. "Based on their experience, I think we have potentially sound instructional leaders. We look forward to interviewing them."

Scruci said he had hoped the first round of interviews would be finished this week, with second-round meetings occurring the week of March 31.

"We will narrow it down to three or four candidates, depending on what we see," Scruci said.

He said about 45 candidates applied for the principal job.

Principal Dwight Carter is resigning at the end of the school year to become principal at New Albany High School.
