Gahanna: Ducklings take ugly fall through grate at Chapelfield

Gahanna police recently received reports involving animal complaints, ranging from a mailman getting bitten by a dog to some ducklings in a predicament.

Ducklings fell down a grate at Chapelfield Elementary School, 280 Chapelfield Road, according to a report received at 6:53 p.m. April 30. A passerby rescued most of the ducks, according to reports.

A Juniper Lane resident reported that her dog was attacked by another dog that was loose on Moss Oak Avenue, according to a complaint received at 3:02 p.m. April 26.

A resident in the 100 block of Shepard Street called police at 3:55 p.m. April 25, reporting that a neighbor's dog had attacked the mailman and she was concerned for the safety of her children. A second call came from the mailman. Franklin County Animal Control responded to the incident.

Franklin County Animal Control picked up a husky in the Kroger Marketplace, 300 S. Hamilton Road, according to a report received at 11:17 p.m. April 28.

* Items were reported stolen from a residence in the 400 block of Amesbury Drive at 9:49 a.m. April 28. Someone entered through an unlocked window over the weekend, according to reports.

* Disorderly conduct was reported in the 900 block of Hartney Drive at 8:51 p.m. April 27. Ten people were involved in a fight, according to reports.

* A Cherry Bottom Road resident reported that a floodlight had come on overnight, and she believes someone smashed the glass in an attempt to render it nonfunctional, according to a vandalism report received at 6:45 p.m. April 27.

* A male and female were reported sitting in the empty fountain at Creekside Park, 123 Mill St., according to a complaint received at 10:05 a.m. April 27. They were warned to stay out of the pool, according to reports.

* A resident in the first block of Shepard Street reported someone keeps getting into her truck and leaving the door open at 10:26 p.m. April 26.

* A male was reported cussing at Wendy's employees through the drive-thru at 77 Granville St. at 11:24 p.m. April 25. The man was going to be removed from Wendy's, according to reports.

* Electronics were reported stolen from the front seat of a vehicle in the 100 block of Imperial Drive at 4:27 p.m. April 25.

* A martial-arts throwing star was found during an administrative search at Gahanna Lincoln High School, 140 S. Hamilton Road, at 8:05 a.m. April 24. A warning also was given for tobacco.
