Gahanna emergency operations director James Williams reported that emergency responders were working as quickly as possible in response to multiple fires and traffic outages following a storm that came through the city about 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 7.
Williams said any resident who has wires down should report it to police at 614-342-4240.
“Particularly, they should report if there's smoke or fire,” he said. “Some of the streets we're trying to clear as quickly as we can. We will get some help from parks and recreation trying to clear quickly.”
He told Gahanna City Council a fire broke out near Gahanna Middle School East on Moon Glow Court, as well as a fire on Deer Run.
“Heritage Lanes has lines down,” he said. “Trees are down at Havens Corners Road and Clotts Road.”
Williams said Clotts Road was blocked in both directions for a while.
Intersections with traffic signals that are out should be treated as four-way stops.
“We have a large number of police directing traffic,” Williams said.
He said Gahanna police and Mifflin Township are strapped, responding to storm-related incidents.
“There were multiple lightning strikes,” Williams said. “Mifflin Township is maxed to the hilt. Jefferson Township also has a lot of power lines down.”
No injuries were reported as of 7 p.m., Williams said.
