Gahanna Community Theatre is looking for 10 cast members to appear in Brigadoon Feb. 20-22 at Gahanna Lincoln High School.
Char McCasland, producer and GCT founder, said open auditions would be held for three female and seven male roles from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Gahanna Middle School West, 350 Stygler Road. Callbacks will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Gahanna West.
Those who audition should bring a prepared number to sing. An accompanist will be provided.
"We chose Brigadoon because so many younger people and younger families have never seen this beautiful, old Broadway show," McCasland said. "We feel it's important to share with our community a wide range of musicals and not let the older productions get lost. Brigadoon is a delightful show with Scottish dancers, bagpipes and some of the most beautiful music."
In the story, when American tourists Tommy and Jeff get lost on vacation in Scotland, they stumble into Brigadoon, a mythical village that appears for only one day every 100 years.
No outsiders can stay in Brigadoon unless they fall in love, and no resident can ever leave or the village will vanish forever, McCasland said.
When Tommy falls for a village girl, he is forced to choose between returning to the world that he knows or taking a chance on life and love in the mysterious Brigadoon.
"It's a beautiful piece to present to our community," McCasland said.
Show dates and times are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20 and 21, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, in the Gahanna Lincoln High School auditorium, 140 Hamilton Road.
