A pair of Columbus Academy seniors signed letters of intent Feb. 6 during a ceremony in the school’s dining hall.

Clarissa Leickly will play field hockey for Ohio University and Erin Simmons will compete in women’s soccer for Marshall University. Both are NCAA Division I programs.
Both student-athletes live in Gahanna.

Leickly is a two-time Most Valuable Player for the Vikings and two-time all-state selection. She also has been named to the academic All-American and all-Midwest region teams.

Last season, Academy finished 18-2-1 overall after losing to Shaker Heights Hathaway Brown 2-1 in overtime in a state semifinal.

Simmons was first-team all-state and named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-American team last season.

Simmons led all divisions in the state in scoring with 39 goals and 26 assists.

She also was the Player of the Year in the MSL-Ohio and the district for Division III.

The Vikings finished 17-2-1 overall after losing to Middletown Fenwick 6-2 in a regional semifinal.
