Boys soccer team falls in second round

The Gahanna Christian Academy boys soccer team finished 10-6-1 overall under first-year coach Scott Ramsey.

After defeating Northridge 2-1 in the first round of the Division III district tournament Oct. 17, the 13th-seeded Eagles lost at eighth-seeded West Jefferson 2-1 on penalty kicks in the second round Oct. 20.

Gahanna Christian and Granville Christian tied for third (2-2-1) in the MOCAL behind Tree of Life (4-0-1) and Dela-ware Christian (4-1) and ahead of Madison Christian (1-3-1) and Grove City Christian (0-5).

Junior Connor Maclellan (14 goals, 16 assists) and freshman Emmanuel Dapaa (12 goals, 8 assists) were first-team all-league and third-team all-district.

Senior Patrick Thomas (11 goals, 9 assists) and juniors Connor Dyckes (10 goals, 9 assists) and Joseph Schoen were second-team all-league. Senior Gabe Ryan and junior Chandler Perry were honorable mention all-league.

Volleyball team has winning season

The girls volleyball team finished 16-6 overall, losing to fifth-seeded Delaware Christian 14-25, 25-12, 25-21, 22-25, 15-12 in a Division IV district semifinal Oct. 24 at Hilliard Darby.

Sixth-seeded Gahanna Christian defeated Danville 25-20, 25-19, 25-23 in the first round Oct. 16 and Madison Christian 25-13, 30-28, 18-25, 23-25, 15-5 in the second round Oct. 18, with both matches played at home.

The Eagles finished third (8-4) in the MOCAL behind Delaware Christian and Madison Christian (11-1 each) and ahead of Granville Christian (6-6), Fairfield Christian (4-8), Grove City Christian (1-11) and Tree of Life (1-11).

Senior Christina Grubich was first-team all-league and all-district, and junior Cierra Jackson was second-team all-league and all-district. Senior Alex Sutton and sophomore Jenna Kirk were honorable mention all-league and all-district.
