A 48-year tradition brings with it lots of photo opps and my files are heavy with pictures of women in their Sunday best, men in shirtsleeves, and children looking a little less than enthusiastic about walking through old houses all day.

A 48-year tradition brings with it lots of photo opps and my files are heavy with pictures of women in their Sunday best, men in shirtsleeves, and children looking a little less than enthusiastic about walking through old houses all day.

What most of my photos show, however, are long lines of people waiting to walk through tour homes.

These images show buildings and artwork featured on the 1960 Haus und Garten Tour -- both then and today.

What amazes me most is how much, and at the same time how little, the neighborhood has chang-ed.
