Members of the ThisWeek Community Newspapers staff collected 26 Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards recently during the 30th Annual Press Club of Cleveland awards ceremony in the Cleveland suburb of Westlake.

The Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards are presented by the Press Club of Cleveland and recognize the accomplishments of the state's top journalists in print, Internet, radio and television.

The ThisWeekNews.com Web site staff won eight awards in the new media division, including second place in the Best Web Site in Ohio category. First place was won by The Columbus Dispatch.

Members of the ThisWeek Communty Newspapers photography staff had an equally impressive evening, bringing home numerous awards in the Non-Daily Newspaper category.

Photographer Lorrie Cecil led the way with five Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards. Cecil's honors included:

General News, Honorable mention, "Fallen Hero," Lorrie Cecil, ThisWeek Big Walnut

In the Open Print category, Gary M. Seman Jr. won a 1st-place award for Reviews/Criticism-Single Article, for "Broad menu in Polaris offers little cause for celebration," which appeared in ThisWeek Dublin Villager.

ThisWeek cartoonist Jim Larrick received an honorable mention award in the Print Visuals category for his "Passing the Torch" cartoon and graphic artist Erin Holl received an honorable mention award in the Infographics category for her "Havener Park" graphic, which appeared in ThisWeek Olentangy.
