Members of the Livingston United Methodist Church this week will take part in a fundraiser to help the congregation's food pantry.

Starting at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 4, the church will hold its third "Churchgate Party." Livingston United will project the Ohio State University football game on the side of its building, 200 E. Livingston Ave.

"Ohio State football is a religion and we decided to just have some fun," said Rev. Jim Donnan. "It's a great opportunity for church folks to get together to hoot and holler for their favorite team and join in the fun."

Those who attend are asked to bring canned food or nonperishable items.

Donnan said it is especially important to donate because the recent windstorm knocked out power to some areas and many people's food spoiled because of it.

"The extra food that people bring to the Churchgate Party would be really appreciated," Donnan said, noting that the food pantry will be open an extra hour Thursday and Saturday.

The pantry's hours will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
