Between 11:30 and 11:50 a.m. Dec. 26, in the 500 block of East Beck Street: A resident reported he saw a number of suspects trying to kick in the rear door of his residence. When they became aware that he was home, they fled. No entry was made and damage to the door, frame and lock was put at $500.

Between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Dec. 22 in the 300 block of East Whittier Street: A woman reported she bought a $121 North Face Denali jacket from Nordstrom and it was delivered via UPS to her residence here. Someone stole the package and, that same day, returned it to Nordstrom for a cash refund, she said.

7:12 p.m. Dec. 20, Shell, 631 S. High St.: An employee reported a thief used counterfeit money to purchase a Western Union money order. Also at the station at 7:11 p.m. Dec. 26, a clerk reported two males stole two, 4-packs of sugar free Red Bull worth a total of $15.

6:30 p.m. Dec. 24, BP, 1091 S. High St.: An employee reported a woman came in the station and demanded that the clerk reset the gasoline pump. The clerk told her to wait in line until it was her turn. The woman began calling the clerk names and threw change at him. One of the coins cut him below the left eye, he reported.

Also at BP, at 2:20 a.m. Dec. 25, an intoxicated customer, angry that the clerk would not give him another cup of coffee to replace the one he had just spilled in the lot, kicked and broke a display in the station.

In a final report from BP, an employee reported a thief at 7:54 p.m. Dec. 28 made off with $100 worth of Ohio Instant Lottery tickets.

Thefts from or vandalism to autos was reported from: the 800 and 900 blocks of South Pearl Street, South Pearl at East Whittier streets and the corner of South High and Willow streets.
