Last year's Pub Golf Tour was so successful that organizer Wayne Owens has brought it back for a second round.

A charity event, the Pub Golf Tour will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. each Tuesday from Feb. 3 to March 3. Each week participants will meet at a different bar on the south side for a putting contest.

The event costs $125 for a foursome and is limited to 20 teams.

Proceeds of the event will go to the High Street Fund, which supports multiple organizations and events, including the Village Singers, the Ohio State Athletic Department Athletic Scholarship Fund and the Columbus Department of Recreation and Parks TeenFest.

Aaron Leventhal, publisher of High Street Neighborhood and founder of the fund, said during the past eight years more than $70,000 has been awarded to various groups.

In the previous go-around, many of the bars created elaborate putting courses for participants.

"Last year they absolutely blew us away with their creativity - everything from hills and sand traps to water traps," Owens said. "When we started this thing, I thought somebody was just going to put a beer mug on the floor. Little did I know they were going to do all this."

Sue Gall, owner of Hey Hey Bar and Grill, has again put her bar on the tour. She said she will use a similar set-up to the one she used previously.

While planning her hole last year, Gall had hired a carpenter. At the last minute the carpenter backed out, throwing off her plans.

"I got it together just using things lying around the bar," Gall said. "When (participants and other bar owners) came in here they were just amazed and I guess that I set the standard. Everybody had to go back and refigure their golf hole."

Owens said he came up with the idea for the fundraiser while in New Orleans several years ago. He saw a similar event and brought the idea back to central Ohio.

Participants play for bragging rights and trophies for individual winners. There will be a raffle each night for gift certificates from various businesses.

In order, the tour will stop at the Hey Hey Bar and Grill, The Red Brick Inn, Jimmy V's Grill and Pub, Park Street Tavern and Gresso's.
