Bakery Gingham, a German Village bakery that specializes in cupcakes, will open its new location on Thurman Avenue this weekend.

The bakery, which is about a year old, first opened in an annex of The Brown Bag Deli. Owner Amanda Ellis had about 220 square feet to sell her baked goods at that location. The new location is about 1,200 square feet.

Ellis announced in September that she would be moving next to Thurman Cafe and the German Village Coffee Haus at 189 Thurman Ave. The business will open in the new location at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Despite having more space, Ellis said she wants to maintain the cozy feel of her previous location.

There will be several new items: croissants, muffins, cookies, coffee cakes, scones, quick breads, biscotti, granola bars and brownies.
