MVA seeking input on gateway initiative

Wednesday October 5, 2011 1:59 PM

The Merion Village Association will hold a special meeting to discuss the gateway signage initiative.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the Merion Village Information Center, 1330 S. Fourth St.

Based on public input from a special meeting last summer and with consideration of the Neighborhood Design Center recommendations, local officials are holding the special meeting to show progress on the program, as well as take suggestions from the audience, said Tony Roell, vice president of the Merion Village Association.

The association is looking to bolster the neighborhood’s identity by placing signs at each of the community’s major gateways.

“These elements will define Merion Village for decades,” said Bill Doughton, a longtime resident who launched the initiative.
