House Beer is not your typical carryout.

The independently owned concept, set to open next month in the Short North, will focus on regional nano and microbrews, as well as beer from across the globe, for takeout and on-premises consumption.

Steve Walter, who owns the store with Curtis Edwards, said it will be a place for “education and advocacy for craft brewing.”

The 840-square-foot space, located inside the Dakota, will have six taps and a few scattered tables. A July 25 opening is planned.

Walter said they chose the Short North because of its proximity to local breweries and forward-looking beer culture.

“I think the demographic consists of the people who are interested in the beer culture and want to align themselves with the local growth of the community,” Walter said.
