Twelve gardens, food trucks, a scavenger hunt and more will be offered during the14th annual Merion Village Garden Tour, to be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 14.
The tour is free.
Maps and tour booklets are available at the Merion Village Information Center, 1330 S. Fourth St., where memberships and raffle tickets may be purchased. Raffle prizes were donated by many local businesses, including Jon Fisher Greenhouse, Greiner Landscaping, Luna Burger, Keens Furniture Loft, Explorers Club, Acupuncture and Wellness of Merion Village, Archive Gallery, Bonnie Brehm Massage and Clayspace. All garden tour proceeds will benefit the Merion Village Association.
During the garden tour, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 322 Stewart Ave., will host an ice cream social and provide water. Hal and Al's, a vegan restaurant and bar on Parsons Avenue at Gates, will showcase its new community garden as well as host a special Garden Tour Food Truck and Cart Hop from noon to 6 p.m.
Hal and Al's also will host the Garden Tour Scavenger Hunt. Hunt participants must find various items hidden at several of the tour stops. Bonus points will be awarded to those who perform specified tasks along the way. Participants can start the hunt at any garden after obtaining an entry form, available at Hal and Al's, the Merion Village Information Center and at the various tour stops in Merion Village, Hungarian Village and Vassor Village.
All entries must be returned to Hal and Al's by 6 p.m. on the day of the tour. Winners will be announced by 8 p.m. (Winners need not be present.) The grand prize is a choice of a Kona Beach Cruiser Bicycle or a Yuengling golf bag. Other prizes are gift packs from various breweries.
