Village Connections will hold an open house Jan. 19, the day the organization officially begins accepting members.The event will be held 1 to 3 p.m. in the Meeting Haus, 588 S. Third St.
People of all ages are invited to the party, which will have food and refreshments, said Katie White, executive director of the nonprofit organization.
"I'm excited to get things underway," White said.
"We've been working toward Jan. 19 for so long. Once it gets here we'll be happy to reach out to members of the community," she said.
"I'm expecting a good turnout. People seem to be interested."
Basic services covered by membership fees include transportation, health and wellness programs, light household tasks and social events, White said.
Minimum age for signup is 50 years old. Annual dues are $500 per individual and $750 per household.
The service area includes Downtown, German Village, Merion Village, Schumacher Place and the Brewery District.
