German Village: Items stolen from vehicle offered for sale online

A thief who stole multiple items from a vehicle in German Village later tried to sell the merchandise on Craigslist.

The victim told Columbus police that between 4 and 11:52 a.m. Jan. 12, someone entered his car while it was parked in the 200 block of Jackson Street.

The victim said he then visited a website and discovered a $185 pair of sunglasses, which had a distinguishing mark, and other merchandise that had been stolen from the vehicle was offered for sale.

Reports said no arrests had been made as of late last week.

In other recent Columbus Division of Police reports from the german Village area:

* Sometime Jan. 17, thieves ripped up 2-by-4 stakes and stole iron gates covering the window wells of a house in the 800 block of South Third Street.

The gates were valued at $600 according to reports.

* Between 6 p.m. Jan. 15 and 11 a.m. Jan. 16, someone stole $500 worth of merchandise from a car parked in the 600 block of Pearl Street.

The victim told police the suspects gained access to the vehicle by breaking the driver's side window.

* An assault was reported Jan. 19 in the 300 block of Sycamore Street.

A witness told police he awakened at 3:18 a.m. and heard a female screaming. He said he got dressed and went outside to speak to his neighbor, the victim.

The witness stated that the victim came outside and told him that she parked her vehicle in front of the residence.

The victim told the witness that when she exited her vehicle someone tackled her to the ground. No one has been arrested as of last week according to reports.

* A gun was fired at a business in the first block of East Whittier Street, causing an estimated $500 damage to the property.

The victim reported the incident happened between 3 p.m. Jan. 18 and 8:20 p.m. Jan. 20.

Police said a bullet was lodged in the back of the wall.
