Planning is well underway for the 55th annual German Village Haus und Garten Tour, slated for June 29.
With an overarching theme already in place -- "Urban. Living. History." -- tour officials are trying to line up PreTour party hosts and additional tour stops.
Shiloh Todorov, executive director of the German Village Society, said there have been seven confirmed tour destinations, with the goal of having of 12 overall.
All styles of home are welcome. The day's theme is "Living History: German Village."
Frontgate, the tour's presenting sponsor, will choose one home for an outdoor update, complete with decor and other furnishings, Todorov said.
The business, which is based locally in Easton, will provide each house with one decorative piece, from a coffee pot to bath towels. It is also allowing the owners of tour houses to purchase decor and home goods at cost, she said.
The PreTour will be held June 28. Its theme is "Urban Living: A State of Mind."
Organizers will walk PreTour hosts through the planning stages, alleviating some of the anxiety associated with throwing a party for strangers, Todorov said.
"It doesn't have to be particularly stressful or particularly expensive," she said.
Hosts can cook their own meals or hire a caterer. Individual parties start at eight seats.
In the past, several couples have collaborated on bigger parties, serving up to 100 people in a farmer's table style of dining.
Todorov said tour organizers are asking hosts to set a budget of $50 to $75 per person max, which includes everything, from food to a caterer to entertainment.
Hausfrau Haven will provide wine, but hosts can go above and beyond that by offering liquor and beer, Todorov said.
PreTour sign up must be made by March 15 at germanvillage.com.
There's been an increase in PreTour ticket prices, which will cost GVS members $125 and $175 for non-members.
It is the first price increase since 2008, Todorov said. Tickets for the tour, meanwhile, will be $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers.
The goal is to have 350 seats at parties and as many at the Party on the Platz, which will have a Kentucky Derby theme this year.
That party will be held at the Meeting Haus.
Tickets for both the tour and PreTour won't be available until June.
Combined, it is the largest fundraising event for the GVS, estimated to make $116,000 this year.
