German Village: Thieves breaking into garages in The Village

At least three break-ins in the German Village area were reported recently to the Columbus Division of Police.

Reports said thieves broke into garages and stole numerous items.

Between 11:40 p.m. March 7 and 2:03 p.m. March 9 in the 200 block of West Whittier Street, a thief entered a garage and stole golf clubs valued at $1,425, an $800 bicycle and a $180 cordless drill.

Between 7:20 and 8:38 a.m. March 14, someone kicked open the door of a garage in the 600 block of Mohawk Street and stole a $600 mountain bike.

The victim stated the suspect also rummaged through a car and shelves in the garage, but he was not immediately able to determine if anything else was stolen.

Between 8:30 and 9:40 p.m. March 15, someone entered an attached garage in the first block of East Kossuth Street and stole a $700 bicycle.

In other recent incidents in the area, a $550 cell phone was reported stolen at 10 a.m. March 13 from behind the counter of a business in the 700 block of South High Street.
