The German Village Society once again will honor the people who provide outstanding service to the neighborhood.
The Society is seeking nominations for three community awards -- Village Valuables, Frank Fetch and Fred & Howard.
People have until April 15 to submit nominations to Shiloh Todorov, German Village Society executive director. Nominations can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
A brief description of the awards includes:
The Frank Fetch Award was founded by Fred Holdridge and Howard Burns in 1984.
They said they believed it was necessary to recognize an individual for outstanding service to the German Village community.
Fetch was the first recipient of the award.
The award will be presented on the evening of the Haus und Garten Tour, during the volunteer recognition dinner.
Fred & Howard
In 1997, the Society Board of Trustees created a new award to be presented at the annual meeting, honoring individuals who have done the most to carry the message of German Village and the Society to the rest of the world.
When the board created the award, there was no question that it be named after Burns and Holdridge, long considered the champion ambassadors of German Village.
In 1997, the very first award was presented to Burns and Holdridge.
The Village Valuables Award is presented to someone who lends a special skill, solves a problem or gives time and talent freely.
