As a way to give back to the community, Merion Village Dental will offer free cleaning, extractions and fillings May 9.
The local dental practice is participating in "Dentistry from the Heart," a worldwide nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free dental care to those in need.
The event will be held from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 9 at, 1250 S. High St..
Only those 18 years old and older will be provided services. Photo IDs are recommended.
There are no financial qualification requirements. Appointments will not be accepted; services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
The lobby will be open for clients and those attending should dress appropriately, organizers said.
"For a lot of people who don't have dental insurance this might be their only opportunity to get dental services," said Betsy Sewell, a spokeswoman for Merion Village Dental.
She said the dentists will shut down the office May 9 and bring in dentists from outside the practice to assist in the effort. A bevy of staff volunteers also will assist.
The last time the dental practice offered the services in 2012, patients started arriving at 4:30 a.m., Sewell said.
"The needs are definitely great, especially in this area," she said.
