A surveillance camera caught a young male inside a backyard secured by a locked gate between 8 and 9 p.m. July 3 in the 1000 block of Jaeger Street, according to Columbus Division of Police reports.
At 3:30 a.m. July 4, the same male broke into the house through the victim's back door, causing the alarm to activate, reports said.
The suspect then left the residence through the front door, according to reports.
In the process, he destroyed a plant, a sprinkler, the trim on top of the gate and the back door handle. The amount of damage listed in the report was $2.
Police recovered clothing and a cell phone on the property.
