German Village: S. Pearl St. burglary nets items worth $2,800

Items worth more than $2,800 worth of merchandise were stolen July 15 from a house in the 700 block of South Pearl Street.

The victims told police the offense occurred between 7:45 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Items stolen included a $500 iPad, $180 camera, $220 car radio and two laptop computers, one valued at $1,100 and another worth $800.

A Columbus man was arrested July 13 after being accused of breaking into cars in the area of South Sixth Street Street and Berger Alley.

Witnesses told police they witnessed the crimes around 3:35 a.m. and followed the 51-year-old suspect.

Police said they found the man inside a car that was not his and he was arrested for multiple crimes.

Between 6 p.m. July 13 and 7:20 a.m. July 14, $255 worth of merchandise was stolen from a car parked in the 600 block of South Ninth Street.

Items included a $40 emergency roadside kit, a $15 electronics cord and a $200 briefcase filled with bill statements.

The victim told police there was no sign of forced entry, but he couldn't remember if the vehicle was locked.

A 47-year-old man told police he was the victim of an attempted robbery July 13 in the 700 block of South Washington Avenue.

The victim told police that at 11:54 p.m. he was approached from behind from a suspect who demanded money.

The victim told police that he ran from the suspect and contacted police.

A $90 bicycle was stolen between 9 and 9:30 a.m. July 14 from a garage in the 700 block of Ebner Street.

The victim told police a door to the garage was left unlocked.

A 55-year-old Columbus man was arrested July 15 for allegedly stealing items from another person in Schiller Park, 1069 Jaeger St.

The victim, a juvenile whose name and age were not listed in the report, told police that about 2:30 p.m. the man stole his $100 fishing pole, marijuana and whiskey.

At 5:45 p.m. July 10, $250 cash was stolen from a vehicle parked at South High Street and Stewart Avenue.
