Grandview residents Susan Gerlach Douglass and Lavetta Helser were recently recognized by BalletMet Columbus as two of its 30 "Pearls of BalletMet" during a gala event to celebrate the company's 30th, or "pearl," anniversary.

Grandview residents Susan Gerlach Douglass and Lavetta Helser were recently recognized by BalletMet Columbus as two of its 30 "Pearls of BalletMet" during a gala event to celebrate the company's 30th, or "pearl," anniversary.

Gerlach Douglass has served as a BalletMet trustee since 1995, where she has served as chair and was most recently the chair of the organization's capital campaign. She was instrumental in the purchase of the entire Mount Vernon Avenue block that includes the dance center and the new performance space.

Helser has been involved in the company since its founding as a professional organization in 1978. She served as the board's first president and continues to serve as an emeritus member of the board.
