Grandview will soon have a hardware store to call its own.

2-J Supply Company signed a lease Monday with two men who will be opening a hardware store at the building 2-J purchased at 1019 Goodale Blvd.

Forced to move out of its current location at 898 Goodale because of the Grandview Yard project, 2-J will move its operations into the rear portion of the building at 1019, manager Tony Finfrock said.

The hardware store will occupy the glass front portion of the building, which will be given a new split address of 1015/1019 Goodale, he said.

The name and specific details about the hardware store will be announced later, Finfrock said.

The Grandview area has been left without a hardware store since last fall, when the Trustworthy Hardware store at 1217 Goodale closed.

The store had moved to Goodale after it was forced to vacate its West Fifth Avenue site because of the new Walgreen's store.

"We weren't specifically looking for a hardware store (as a co-occupant at 1019 Goodale)," Finfrock said. "But we're pleased that Grandview will have a hardware store again. It will serve a need in the community."

The hardware store operators see the Goodale site as a plum spot for such a business, he said.

"I think they are looking to the future when Grandview Yard comes in," Finfrock said. "If all those condominiums are built, this will be a good location for a hardware store. And it's a convenient location for the rest of Grandview."

The hardware store will occupy about 5,500- to 6,000-square feet of the building, he said. 2-J will occupy the remainder of the building, about 30,000- to 33,000-square feet.

Based in Dayton, 2-J is a distributor of HVAC products. Along with its Grandview location, the company has branches in Cincinnati, Lima, and Piketon, Ohio; in Louisville and Lexington, Ky. and Huntington, W.Va.

The company has been in Grandview for 14 years, the last decade at its current location.

"We really wanted to stay in Grandview," Finfrock said. "It's a great location because 670, 315 and 270 are all close by and a lot of our customers are located near Grandview."

2-J plans to move into its new site during the third week of February, he said. The move will not require a renovation of the building.

The hardware store is targeted to open in April or May, Finfrock said.

2-J has also purchased the two-building warehouse at 1051 Goodale and is looking for tenants to occupy the space, he said.
