Got gift wrap?

Schools' fundraiser makes sure of it

By

The annual gift wrap sale to benefit the Stevenson Elementary School and Edison Intermediate/Middle School PTOs will begin Friday, Sept. 28.

Stevenson Elementary students and Edison fourth and fifth-graders will conduct the annual sale through Oct. 17.

The sale is one of the biggest fundraisers for the PTOs, said Sharon Hatem, who heads the fourth- and fifth-grade sale. The elementary gift wrap sale is being led by Anastasia Yue.

In the annual fundraiser, students solicit purchases of items from the Innisbrook Gift Wrap and Helen Grace Chocolates catalog.

"Innisbrook's gift wrap is really high-quality," Hatem said. "They also offer a variety of holiday-type items, including candles."

For more information about Innisbrook, visit innisbrook.com.

The PTOs will receive 50 percent of all local sales of gift wrap and 45 percent of all other items sold locally, she said.

"The students will be contacting their families, friends and neighbors," Hatem said.

Anyone who is not contacted by a student can arrange to order items by emailing Hatem at thatem@columbus.rr.com or calling her at 614-481-8985, or emailing Yue at anastasiajones25@hotmail.com.

As an incentive, Edison students who sell a certain number of items can enter into a drawing for AMC movie tickets, Hatem said.

Students who sell at least 30 items will win a special award, she said.

"On Nov. 7, they will ride in a limousine to go out for a pizza lunch," Hatem said. "I think they will be pretty excited about getting to ride in a limo, not to mention the pizza."

Items ordered through the Grandview gift wrap sale will be delivered Nov. 15, she said.

The PTOs use the money raised to help pay for the various activities and programs they sponsor throughout the school year, Hatem said.

Among the programs the Edison PTO supports are Math Counts, Power of the Pen, All Arts Day, field trips and the annual playwriting project involving the Phoenix Theatre, she said.
