The city of Grandview Heights will light the community holiday tree in a ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the Grandview Center, 1515 W. Goodale Blvd.
"We try to make it a festive event, because Grandview really is a special community," Recreation Supervisor Marta Durban said. "What's great about this event is that so many people in the community work together to make the tree-lighting a wonderful family event."
The evening will include a performance by the Grandview Singers, a Grandview Heights High School choral group under the direction of vocal music teacher Andrew Grega, and seasonal music performed by the Tri-Village Dulcimer Players.
Hot cider will be provided by Starbucks and cookies from First Community Village and the Grandview Civic Association. Santa Claus will pay a visit, and a craft activity will be sponsored by Noodles & Co.
During the event, the winners of a holiday coloring contest, sponsored by Members First Pathways Financial Credit Union, will be announced. Each winner will receive a $25 savings account certificate.
Youngsters can pick up a picture to color at the parks department office, 1515 W. Goodale, or Members First, 1445 W. Goodale. Entries must be returned to the parks department or credit union by noon Monday, Dec. 3.
Awards will be presented in four ages groups: kindergarten and grades 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6.
The village of Marble Cliff will hold its annual holiday party from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at Our Lady of Victory Parish Center, 1541 Roxbury Road.
Dessert will be served and Santa will make an appearance, Fiscal Officer Cindy McKay said.
Residents are asked to bring a nonperishable food item to benefit First Community Church's Heart to Heart food pantry, McKay said. Addressed envelopes will be available for residents who want to make a financial donation to the pantry.
The city of Grandview Heights and the Grandview Heights Public Library are sponsoring Santa's visit to the library from 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 8.
