Moving, reinventing

bonoPIZZA owner selling, launching topoTACOS in Short North

Bill Yerkes plans to do with tacos what he’s done for pizza.

The founder of bonoPIZZA, 1717 Northwest Blvd., in the Grandview Heights area, said he is selling his shop and launching a new enterprise: topoTACOS in the Short North.

Yerkes wouldn’t divulge the location because he hasn’t signed a lease, he said. He hopes to be open sometime in January.

He said his plan is to offer 30 to 40 taco flavors, some with his trademark flair.

“You have no idea what I have planned,” he said.

Also, tortillas will be made from scratch.

“You can watch the tortillas being made in the front window,” he said.

The plan is to charge $2 per taco.

Yerkes, who founded bonoPIZZA nearly 20 years ago, is selling the pizzeria to current manager Jake Wilch.
