Chavanne resigns as Grandview coach

Michelle Chavanne resigned after two seasons as coach of the girls basketball program.

“There is not one thing that was the deciding factor in my decision,” said Chavanne, an attorney and a 1993 Grandview graduate who was an assistant for four seasons prior to taking over the program two seasons ago.

Three years ago, the Bobcats finished 2-19 overall, but were 30-18 in Chavanne’s two seasons. Last season, Grandview was 18-6 overall and tied West Jefferson for second (10-4) in the MSL-Ohio Division behind Worthington Christian (13-1).

The Bobcats had no seniors and expect to return most of their players including a junior class that has been an integral part of the program’s success in the past two seasons.

Junior guard Megan McCauley (7.9 points, 5.3 assists, 4.0 steals, 3.7 rebounds per game) was third-team all-district and first-team all-league, and junior forward Grace Palmer (6.8 points, 6.5 rebounds) was honorable mention all-district and second-team all-league. Freshman center Dareth Douglass (8.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.7 blocks) was second-team all-league and junior forward Morgan Taylor was honorable mention all-league.
