"Taste of the Independents," an evening of food and drink from more than 40 independently owned central Ohio restaurants as well as appearances by winemakers from throughout the world, will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, at the Smith Brothers Hardware Building, 580 N. 4th St. Proceeds from the second annual event by Dine Originals Columbus, a local organization that promotes patronizing locally owned and independently operated restaurants, will benefit Dine Originals Columbus.

"The Buckeye Ranch is thrilled to be a part of 'Taste of the Independents' again this year," Tim Woodard, senior director of development, said in a prepared statement. "Partnerships like the one that we have built with Dine Originals Columbus are so important to us. Tickets to the 2009 event cost $75 and $125 at www.buckeyeranch.org and www.dineoriginalscolumbus.com.

Buyers of the $125 ticket will be able to enjoy "the Fifth Floor" festivities, which include special dishes and wine pairings.

The $75 tickets will feature access to all restaurants and vintners.
