Walter McNabb has found that a mix of live bluegrass music and a food drive make for a good time.

McNabb, owner of Rolls Cafe at 4057 Broadway, will host his second bluegrass concert and food drive at 6 p.m. Aug. 28 at his shop.

He said he held a bluegrass food drive event Aug. 7 and about 50 people turned out to see the show.

"The turnout was so much that I had to empty the restaurant of its chairs so people could sit outside," McNabb said. "It was slammed. I sold out of food."

He said he expects double the number of people Aug. 28.

Food collected at the event Aug. 7 was donated to the Grove City Food Pantry. Food collected Aug. 28 will also be donated to the local pantry.

McNabb is calling for those who want to attend the event to bring items the pantry is lacking. Those items are canned fruits, dried milk, rice, chili, mushroom soup, toiletries and boxed potatoes.

Woods and Strings bluegrass band will play Aug. 28, as they did Aug. 7.

The band's music was a hit at the first event, McNabb said.

"People were dancing in the streets," he added.

Asked for the inspiration of the event, McNabb paused a moment.

"I just came up with it," he said. "It's trying to bring life to Grove City's downtown and at the same time it's doing it for a good cause."
