Kenstar Pharmacy in Grove City's town center closed for business Dec. 21.

Jim Ricket, owner of the pharmacy for 28 1/2 years, said his business was purchased by CVS/pharmacy.

He and his six employees will start working for the CVS at 3575 Broadway after closing the store in the town center.

Ricket said he had been pondering a sale for six months after the store's revenues began to decline.

"We had to start thinking really hard on what to do," he said. "So, we had to make some tough decisions. It's just another tragedy in the world of small business."

Ricket, who owns the building at 3995 Broadway, said he will either rent or sell the property in the town center.

"The downtown is not the priority of the city anymore," he added.

Ricket said other retail pharmacy corporations offered to buy his business. He said he's glad he chose CVS.

"I couldn't be more tickled that they want to work with us," he said.
