Three Grove City High School students performed with the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra Dec. 11.

The orchestral organization held a community concert called Messiah (And More!) Sing Along at the Southern Theatre, 21 E. Main St.

The Grove City High students - Joey Bonfield, Christina Isaacs and Stephanie Meade -were among 50 students from 17 central Ohio high schools who performed in the show.

"The Messiah Sing Along is a wonderful event that gives ProMusica the opportunity to collaborate with many artistic individuals, groups, and facets in our Columbus community," said Promusica executive director Janet Chen in a prepared statement.

"It's a time where community choirs and student musicians can come together and celebrate the holiday season in song. It is a lot of fun because it not only is a relaxed atmosphere, but because music is a universal language, everyone in the Theatre plays an important part of the evening," she said.

According to a press release, more than 600 people attended the concert.

Messiah (And More!) Sing Along serves as both a performance as well as a part of ProMusica's education and outreach programming, the press release said.

In addition to the more than 200 registered community choir members, ProMusica gave Columbus-area high school student musicians the opportunity to play side-by-side with its professional musicians.

ProMusica welcomed guest conductors from local high school orchestras.
