Worldstars East will hold its first Columbus-based performing arts competition on Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Ohio Union, on the campus of The Ohio State University.

Worldstars East will hold its first Columbus-based performing arts competition on Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Ohio Union, on the campus of The Ohio State University.

The competition begins at 10:30 a.m.

Aspiring performers and entertainers can compete for a chance to advance to national competitions and perform in front of professionals in the entertainment industry. There are six categories of competition: acting, dance, instrumental, modeling, vocal and variety arts. Each "act" or performance is 60 seconds in length, and competitors must be at least five years old.

One in 10 competitors is guaranteed to advance to the national competition, scheduled for Jan. 14-16, 2011 in Orlando.
