Blendon Woods Metro Park

Photo Prowl and Camera Club Meeting, 9 a.m. Saturday at the Nature Center. Focus on photographic techniques and share critiques of your work.

Just for Kids: Buds A-Bursting, 1 p.m. Saturday at the Nature Center, for ages 6-12. Learn what happens when trees wake up from their winter rest. Sample some maple syrup.

Audubon Bird Hike, 8 a.m. Sunday at the Nature Center. Search for birds on a two-mile hike.

Preschoolers: Neat Nests, 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Nature Center. Learn how and why birds make nests for their young. Take away a bag of nesting materials to help birds get started on their nests.

Glacier Ridge Metro Park

9801 Hyland Croy Road, Plain City

Walk and Woof, 2 p.m. Saturday at the bulletin board near the picnic shelter at the main park entrance. Take a 2.5-mile hike with your dog.

Woodcock Watch, 8 p.m. Tuesday at the bulletin board near the picnic shelter at the main park entrance. Take a one-mile hike and scan the fields for the woodcock's aerial courtship dance.

Highbanks Metro Park

Natural Play Area: Explore the Beach, 10 a.m. Thursday, April 7, at the Big Meadows Picnic Area. Search for shells, rocks, insects and plants on the sandy beach along the Olentangy River.

Amphibian Adventure, 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Glacier Knoll Picnic Area. Look and listen for American toads, spring peepers, chorus frogs and other creatures while exploring a wetland.

Prairie Oaks Metro Park

3225 Plain City-Georgesville Road, West Jefferson

Natural Play Area Adventures: Get Climbing, 2 p.m. Sunday at Beaver Lake, 8921 Lucas Road. Climb up a hill and down into a ravine to find some good climbing trees.

Sharon Woods Metro Park

Westerville

Amphibian ramble, 2 p.m. Saturday at the Schrock Lake restrooms. Search for frogs, toads and salamanders off-trail in their wet habitats on a one-mile hike.

Slate Run Metro Park

1375 state Route 674 N., Canal Winchester

Signs of Spring Scavenger Hunt, 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the naturalist's office. Stop at the office for a list and explore the park on your own to find the items. Come back when completed for a prize.

Metro Five-0: Wood Walk, 2 p.m. Sunday at the Buzzard's Roost Picnic Area, for ages 50 and older. Take a half-mile stroll along the Covered Bridge Trail to learn about the park's natural and historic features.

Potato Planting, 1-3 p.m. Saturday. Help cut, sort and plant potatoes and learn about their place in history

We Do Windows, 1-3 p.m. Sunday. Help the women do spring cleaning chores without the help of electricity or other modern aids.
