A man was shot and killed on Tuesday and investigators said his son shot him.

The shooting occurred in a house in the 1300 block of Borror Road shortly before 6 p.m., 10TV's Ashleigh Barry reported.

The son, Robert Swackhammer Jr., was questioned at the Franklin County Sheriff's Office Tuesday night. Investigators said he was released from jail two weeks ago.

Family members said Swackhammer Sr., who was shot in the head, was a grandfather of seven.

The victim's nephew told 10TV News that the victim was a good man, a retired pharmacist and a loving father.

Swackhammer Jr., 52, is also a father. Franklin County Sheriff Zack Scott said family members said Swackhammer Jr. was depressed, going through a divorce and recently had an altercation with his father.

Swackhammer Jr. was arrested in August for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, Barry reported.

"He has a history with guns, a history with anger and some bipolar issues according to the family so unfortunately it resulted in this between him and his dad," Scott said.

A neighbor of the family, Bob Giehls, said the family was close.

"They visited a lot, they helped each other out, they went to church together," Gielhs said.

Family members were consoling each other inside the victim's home.
